Since 1995 I’ve been researching skin care ingredients/chemicals while dealing with sensitive skin, eczema and dry, cracked, bleeding knuckles. It wasn’t until the year 2000 and the birth of my third child that I decided to learn to make my own skin care products. I studied herbs, essential oils, carrier oils (especially shea butter) and anything else that related to making soap and skin care. I spent countless hours at the library and on the computer learning as much as I could about each topic. I decided on a formula for an herbal hand cream and after much trial and error, came up with a few good products and they worked. My hands soon healed, I had skin care products that my face could tolerate and my kids had natural soaps and lotions to be pampered with. It was not long after gifting my soaps and skin care products to family and friends that I was encouraged to begin my business venture.
Officially my business started as Natural Indulgences LLC in June of 2001. After sourcing wonderful indigenous ingredients from places like Togo, Morocco, Uganda and Tahiti, and a trip to Tahiti in 2006, I decided to change the business name to Mohéa Natural Beauty LLC and to open a retail boutique and studio. There I share my passion and teach classes on the art of making natural soap and skin care.
I am currently working on new formulations for a facial skin care line, a baby & little girls’ line, new herbal balms and a selection of aromatherapy palm wax candles.
I am also continuing my education in the field of Aromatherapy and am working toward becoming a Certified Aroma Therapist. Other areas of interest are herbal studies, nutrition, natural green living and natural botanical perfumery, all of which contribute to “natural beauty”.
